A friend of my son's in the USA bought some pedals from Amazon.com.
When they arrived, there was a red sticker across the packaging which said "Not for use on stationary bikes". No explanation or further information was given.
The friend was puzzled and asked my son if he knew why the pedals were unsuitable. Son didn't know, and asked me. I don't know.
Can anyone suggest a reason?

its a security for seller that once you put them on a bike and they get damaged, you wont be able to return them as they had a safety sticker to not use them on any bikes, so if they fail at any given possibility they are protected by law and thus you can kiss theirs bum :P

Perhaps pedals on exercise bikes need to conform to some safety design, whereas those on standard bikes can have rough sharp sections needed for grip in the real world?
Perhaps they have different 'hand' threads??

Maybe if 'stationary' or exercise bikes have no freewheel capability they are designed to use pedals with foot retention systems, and using these 'beartrap' style pedals could result in mangled legs if the feet slip off and the flywheel of the exercise bike keeps rotating the pedals at speed.

Screw thread maybe, still left & right hand sides, just a different size.
What happens if you use your bike on rollers?
