I have got a car so could throw bike in the back of that and drive into to near the finish if parking is at all possable there (but I suspect that lots of others will be trying that also so parking could be a nightmare)

Have been half keeping an eye on the cycle chat ride thread but still not convinced that my fitness level is enough yet. I know that you go at the speed of the slowest rider etc but I am a bit worried about holding everyone up so much.
No problem with the car parking - if need be you can leave it chez scoosh, all of 4 corners from Viccy Park.

holding everyone up so much
Actually, HLaB, Mags and the other greyhounds need the pauses to try and read a gps with sunglasses on  - then still go in the wrong direction  . As SB has said, it's the pace of the slowest rider - and Hairy Jock is a very good, understanding and encouraging sheepdog

Suspect from looking at a map I know where the route went and it would not have been up the gorge..

I only cycle as a commuter, doing a round trip of 20 miles a day, 4 days a week. I'm almost 16st, and I managed it last year without any problems. If I can do it, anyone can. Up until then I'd only ever done a max of 10 miles at any one sitting.

There was even a wee boy of about 5 who did it on his tiny bike !!

So you'll manage no bother, marooncat.

Where does the route go and what sort of time do people tend to take to do this in? Think some of the people on here could do 55 miles before breakfast without breaking a sweat  but I would find it hard going

Admittedly it is rather disconcerting when you are leaving Linlithgow to meet riders coming the other way with their medals  but there were only two of them... don't let that put you off, there was one guy doing it on a rickshaw last year, I did offer him a fare but he declined...
