@mickle ?

Have you had your foot checked out by a podiatrist, there may be another/simpler solution

Yes, i found them useful to stop hitting my heels on the chainstay of my boardman hybrid. I sold them when i changed to a Specialized when the problem did not occur. I found them difficult to get for a decent price in the UK and bought these from 'Treasure Gifts' at amazon.com. They are heavy but you could try them and get some titanium ones if they work. Of course a new bike might be cheaper than these.

I believe specialized did do a cheap light(ish)weight set a few years ago, but the design was flawed and they were withdrawn.

Edit - the amazon link 'intelligently' reroutes to the uk site. This is the US link (copy and paste)

If it is the same pain I suffered for over 30 years, yes I did try them and no they did not work. I tried so many different avenue's to get rid of that pain, normally started after 7 minutes riding and when away within a short time of stopping, unless it was a long ride in which case it would stay around a bit.

Still get it now a bit but to be honest it is masked by the pain coming from the other leg.

Getting them from sjs - 100grammes a pair.....but on a 7kg bike its not really an issue if the pain is alleviated

It would mean i could raise my saddle back up. As lowering the saddle is the only thing stopping it hurting. Great on the flat/downhill, but not when climbing

Out of interest how much stretching do you do? my foot is certainly less sore if I have been stretching on a daily basis, mainly hip flexors. My wife is a Podiatrist and niether her or the school she trained at 15 years ago could come up with the answers, it was Adrian Timmis on a bike fit that told me about tight flexors and lossening those certainly helps, but like most cyclist I do not do enough.

Do you do physio for the knee? Did you have a reconstruction or are you ligament deficient?
No ligament or reconstruction

Knee isn't the problem itself, just not alligning properly with lower leg

Spending £15 on a pedal extender is far cheaper than requiring full knee joint reconstruction. Which really isnt required for every day use

I forgot to say they were also very prone to rusting. I painted mine but they are available in stainless steel. In fact i just saw these which might be of interest.
