That’s a good reason not to pay the bill for the whole operation. If they passed that, then what confidence can you have in anything else?

(PAT testing, of course, is pretty much a scam these days...a box-ticking exercise rather than a genuine attempt to raise standards)

I bet a lot of places don't even need to do it. Our old office manager did some research and found out that because we only have PCs and a few kitchen appliances, we don't need to - we just have to keep an eye on the condition of leads.

I've heard that they charge about 70p per appliance. Is that correct?
Thanks
That's it, the tester has probably been given x amount of time for each appliance as it's a cut throat market.

A similar analogy would probably be courier services, everyone wants quality, but they don't like paying for it.

It's common sense, fixed items like PCS require less testing than say an electric drill or workshop items.
A lot of companies don't make the distinction I suspect and 'over' pat test everything.
Don't know about 70p per item, the contractors we had charged a fixed rate for everything. Myself and the engineering manager calculated it...they couldn't possibly do it properly and make money so it is to all intents and purposes...a worthless exercise...except for the company doing it of course.
