Damn if only Pog was a better bike handler 🤣

The problem is that the bugger will only go and improve the things he isn't miles better than everyone else at.

I really do hope they take this seriously though. We all do things we are sorry for but throwing a full water bottle at a superstar riding on cobbles isn’t something to be taken lightly.

I'm sure it will be. Its a step on from people like that stupid "allez opi omi" women holding a sign for the cameras and bringing down a bunch of riders in the Tour the other year, this is deliberately trying to injure/impede a rider and needs coming down on very hard to discourage anyone else from doing it.

The spectators rushing to help, then being unable to help is funny.

Not sure what some of them are even trying to do.

I watched it live and only now do I see that Pog changed bike. I thought he'd managed to get the chain back on (or whatever the issue was)

That's weird. I thought the same (watching live); this morning I saw a clip showing the DS* talking to Pog, who wanted a bike swap due to front brake rub. It's possible that I (or the clip editor) confused this with another incident. Whatevs!

*His DS talks exactly like Nandor the Relentless in WWDITS

MVdP has copped a modest fine for illegal feeding. If they're going to have rules for this, they need to make them less toothless. In a stage race would this not have had a sporting consequence?

Well it wasn't a stage race, and I believe the Commies assess if it changed the race outcome. Which with Matty's lead on this occasion, it clearly didn't. (Pog's super secret electrolyte feed was probably dodgy, due to the car being driven where it oughtn't have been. So there.)

But there are a lot of mutterings in the air about two-tier rule application this season ...

Where would we be without the commisssaire lottery to give us something to blather about.

My favourite was WVA in a one day race (E3?) a couple of years ago getting his chain lubricated by a mechanic in the car, in obvious violation of a daft rule that was introduced with some fanfare a couple of years before that.

Faced with having to actually apply their daft rule they decided it was ... well ... daft, and ignored it. I don't think he even got the obligatory 200CHF fine. But I could be wrong.
