Paramo jackets

I used one daily from Oct to April for over 10 years. It wore out and I got another old style in new condition for £35 on ebay.
You never feel clammy. They are warmer than gortex but I feel the cold more than most. As breathable as a non membrane windproof. Not damaged by puncture. The material is durable in normal use.
I took mine on a North Sea cycle route tour and used it on cool evenings until a cold late Aug rainstorm, then it was my foul weather jacket through Norway until Oct. I rode 3 days of torrential rain at 10c and was comfortable the whole time.

You need to clean and reproof it as needed to maintain beading. The lightweight version holds less wax and the water resistance is not as durable. I prefer std weight. After an alcohol leak I had to clean and reproof my jacket mid tour. I found techwash and wax in a camping shop. Waxing in a bucket is more effective than in a washing machine.

The multi-activity style zip-up jacket styles are the most useful for general biking. The longer ones are preferred for hiking. Modern versions have main pockets inside the vent zips which I think is stupid.
Fit is a bit odd on some models with v long or short sleeves but mine are just right.
Paramo repair and maintenance service is top class.

Up to two hundred notes for a glorified bin liner?

Nice work if you can get it.

Absolutely nothing like a bin liner.

Now if you were talking about shakedry you'd be nearer the mark and they're excellent for cycling.

Ive a Paramo jacket and can't really fault it. Its certainly worn well. That said, I (and most UK search and rescue operators) prefer Keeler gear - equally efficient, more versatile design, a bit cheaper, equally durable.

Its Keela and is equally as attractive as Paramo gear. Function is clearly chosen over fashion.

Thanks all. I really just need something to stay dry when walking around and relatively warm with a hood. Arms are an issue for me, as mine are longer relative to my torso and its a bit expensive for trial and error.
