I never liked Pantomime as a child and as I have aged I dislike it even more, it seems to be full of second rate actors dressed in the gaudiest costumes spouting the same outdated jokes, am I alone in this disike of the Pantomime or do I need to reconsider my position. (titter fom the audience)

All the things you mention. Isnt that the point of it all?

Barnet,
MrsP and myself have been going to the Pantomimes for 20 years or so, mainly at the local theatre, but this year we also went to the production at the London Palladium which was a much more lavish affair. You know more or less what you are going to get, and I find them quite entertaining.

My son is a trumpet player and this is his 3rd year in panto. For him, it is 6 weeks regular money. Doing 3 high energy shows most days, I can confirm how hard the cast, band and crew work. It is a traditional art form going back many years. A good panto contains jokes about current affairs and, of course, lots of innuendo for the adults in the audience. I have found the ones I have seen recently to be slick, professional and entertaining.
Joe will be a shell of his former self by the end of next week when the run ends!!

Do pantos usually have live musicians?

We used to go as a family when I was a child and I don't recall any.
