What soft paint do you intend to use on it, as anything less than baked or twin pack will be very soft.

I've done two Peugeot with Nitromors, a steam cleaner, wire wool, sanding wheels, scotch pads, Dremel use etc, etc, etc, etc................................

The above does work but as brockers suggests it is very labour intensive.

I'll definitely be looking at the shotblast route when my next project comes along

+1 for shotblasting but many of the shotblaster/powdercoating firms that dont specialise in bike frames and do more basic industrial stuff tend to use coarse shot and you end up with a frame that looks more like a cheesegrater. I know that in many cases the powdercoat covers properly but in my experience I prefer to take it home after blasting and rub it down again and degrease it before the final paint job. In every case when I've done this the resulting job has been substantially better. Mind you I only pay £30 for shotblast, powdercoat and lacqueur so i'm prepared to put up with little bit of inconvenienve

Hmmm ta, never seen that channel,I'll have a look it sounds interesting. Can't see my local sweatshop investing though
The bloke who does the shotblasting shuts himself in an old 40ft container, wearing no protective gear whatsoever. I suggested he'd be lucky to reach his 30th birthday but he didnt seem bothered !!!

Sorry for digressing from the op btw. I have used a circular abrasive disk that fits a normal electric drill or grinder for stubborn frame paint removal. One disk will do a complete frame and it leaves a decent finish. About £5 in Wilco I think. I'll try to find a link.

just to let you know. I had a fail on the paint stripper. It would of taken all weekend to get the paint off, maybe a little to much faith in the product.

I called a local metal restoration place, who will remove the old brazons, bead blast it and paint it for around £80. so.... plan B
