Can anyone recommend a paint stripper to use on a steal frame?

I saw a thread here a while ago of someone using a solvent free paint stripper that seem to work quite well, but i can't find the post.

I was going to sand the frame down, but it sounds like to much hard work.

thanks very much

Nitromors is the cheap and nasty way to get the job done.

Look on Ebay for Starchem paint stripper. You only have to blow the fumes on a bike and the paint bubbles. Not cheap though.

I tried Nitromoors on my 70s Raleigh...not a chance, scarcely touched the paint.
I ended up sanding it, then gave up because you cant get into the lugwork, ended up having it shotblasted.

My experience too as it wouldn't touch the paint on my R20.

yeah nice one. My brother in-law knows a lot of traddies. if the paint stripper fails i'll go knocking on his door.

It's so much easier just to take the frame to a shotblaster. Unless you're a masochist, by the time you've splashed out on chemicals and wire wool, possibly damaged your lungs and given yourself some form of RSI or at least a sore arm, you'll have realised it would have been a whole bunch easier to give it to somebody else to do. And it wouldn't cost you any more either! The last frame I had done would have cost just £15 just for a shotblast.( And decided to get it sprayed up too as it just wasn't worth the faff to end up with second rate paint job if I did the job myself.)

thanks everyone for the advice. I'm just to curious to see how i get on.

There is a shot blaster not far from where i live. So that could be plan B.
