Ah in that case, definitely chuck it in the river then (or the cesspit that is eBay) and get a well fitting roadbike  The Escape is however still a road going hybrid, no suspension and what not. Can always fit narrower slicker tyres in the summer

But see a physio first ;)

Do you agree something has snapped if you look at the pictures on this thread:

Something need to change, question is what?! Could be anything but the bar ends idea sounds like a cheep way of getting an adjustable reach/hand position, tbh if I rode 30 miles regularly on flat bar bike I think I'd be getting stiff too.

It doesn't help that the worst roads are near my home either. So at the end of any ride, I have all that shock travelling through my body, I am stronger now though to stand on the pedals.

Definitely see a physio. If monies are tight for private, see your GP and ask for an NHS referral

Arms out straight in front of you right now, palms facing downwards, now turn them facing each other, anything going on in the shoulder or neck area?

Nope.

If I twist my head to the right, just as my head is over my shoulder and I am looking at a 90 angle I feel that area tighten. If I move my head over my left shoulder, the same way, when I get to the 90 degree I also feel the area (on my right still) tighten, with a little pain.

I have the same, tight scalenes apparently and shoulders. I also get a lot of aching in my arm

My physio has me doing lots of shoulder shrugs and head turning, between painful massages at appointments  Get medical advice, this is unlikely to resolve without some sort of intervention (my experience anyhow)

Physio and stick to the stretches they give you.

Most people feel a difference in the shoulder area with the position I gave, this illustrates the benefits of bar ends or drops.
