I sent this tyre to the reserves after an unlucky cut on it's first ride but looking at it agAin I think I was being a bit too careful. Having destroyed another tyre today I'm gonna put it onto the bike unless you all reckon it'll explode. What do you reckon... Safe enough?

There's puncture protection under the cut.

Do they have Kevlar or similar under the tread. If so they will be fine IMO, however if they haven't I would air on the side of caution and would buy new and retire those to emergency tyres, or you could try gluing the cut closed.

Looks ok.You could glue the cut to seal it.that will stop flints embedding in it

Yes - use superglue to heal the cut. Can prolong it's life.

Forgive me if I am wrong but isn't superglue solvent based with instructions not to use on rubber ?
It does however make a nice finish if you use it on turned timber while still in the lathe .

I haven't had much luck with superglue. The residue in the tread near the cut in my tyre is some I used to stick/fill the cut without success. doing something wrong I expect, others seem to swear by it.

My commuter bike's tyres are full of those. I had a look today at the back one and it looks like a cheese grater.

Did I think "must replace it!".

Nope, I thought "I can get another week out of that".
