well my much ridden and now "winter ride/commuter", a Carrera Virtuoso started having problems.
5000 miles had left the wheels shot, the cassette ropey and the actual brakecallipers the worse for wear.... but then 5k miles out of a 250 note bike, you have to expect some wear.

So parts arrived and I set to work this afternoon. New Aksiums in black, with new tubes and tyres, new cassette and chain, new chainset/cranks, and new brake callipers.

All fitted, all working nicely and the bike feels much the better for it.

There is no point to this thread, was just chuffed having done it all myself without drawing blood and wanted to shout about it

Every reason to shout about it Johnny

Nothing better than DIYing it, feeling the benefit and regaining some 'love' (if that's the right word) for an old friend. Puts a big cheesy grin on your face

I just did my winter bike up for my brother. it's really nice to see them looking nice again. most of mine was just cosmetic really, except for the tyres and brake blocks, but i still felt well proud after.

Just looking at the bike, and the only original parts are the handlebars, forks and frame, can soon see it being just the frame
