Pelaton flying through the country lanes near Modbury in Devon, and MTB's all over the place

Climbed up Burgh Island and there was a guy at the top with a Scott hardtail of some kind, with a rack on. Can't imagine he rode it up, and I saw him pushing it down.

And when I got back to my apartment some guy seemed to be trying to ride a roadbike across the sand causeway to the island...

And my bike is at home

I seen 3 pushbikes while out cycling myself on sunday. Couldnt tell what ones they were tho.

Plenty of cars on the road with 2,3 or even 5 bikes on board (3 on the back, two on top) heading towards holiday destinations.

When I see bikes on cars, I just assume they are defective in some way and are being transported to a repair shop. Why else would their owners not be cycling instead of sitting in a car :?:

When I see bikes on empty cars especially vans and estates I think the owners must be displaying them as some kind of trophy because anybody with half a brain would put them safely inside the vehicle...

A chap 3 doors down from me cycles the same local woods as me. They are 2-3 miles away. He drives there, I cycle it. Im usually home before him too.

I carry my bike on a rack so that I can enjoy new rides in different parts of the country.

So how would you propose we took or bikes to the Midi? It's about 1000 miles from our house.

There is a lesson here - Always take your bike on holiday

I have been in Ilfracombe all week and there were a lot of bikes about when it was not raining , which was a lot

I would like to have taken a bike but i would not have had the time to ride it and i wanted a break from it .

I'm sorry, I can't grasp that concept.

Anyway, if anyone does come to Devon, do bring your bike. It's a fab place to ride - lots of traffic-free trails, 8000 miles of roads to explore (mostly really quiet once you get off the main routes), and a few hills to give your legs a good work out. Not that I'm biased, or anyfink.

Yesterday I was amused to pass a stationary group of four under-10s waiting patiently for the rest of their party to catch up on the Exe Trail. As I passed on my CAAD9, one of them viewed it with awe and said "Aw! It's another racing bike!!!!" I think the seeds might have been sown for a keen road cyclist in a few years time...

I have been suffering from general tiredness , aches and pains etc etc

The wrong side of 40 , shift work and a hyperactive 4 year old along with trying to keep fit all take there toll.
