Why are all the teams being forced to use supplied bidons by the IOC.
They keep bouncing out of the holders causing danger to other riders

Any ideas, as the rest of their kit is what the want!

Yep, they have to use bidons instead of bottles. It's an outrage, when you consider they should actually be using garrafas.

Because branding. The same reason in 2012 when they wheeled wiggo out during the opening ceremony to ring the bell, he was wearing a yellow T shirt, having just won the TDF, but lacking branding.

You see back in the old days of metal bottle cages you could just bend 'em to grip any bidon .... Truefact.

I used to use those Ciussi ones that you could bend a bit to tighten / loosen the grip. In fact I think the entire world used them. I only picked them because professionals used them, and they came in purple to match my bike, so just as wanky a reason as any gramme saving measure. Now I'm using Elite plastic cages, and so I'm clearly no less wanky some years on.

I bought new bottles from Tesco and had to bend the cages a little bit to get a firm grip on the bottle sorted I don't worry about saving weight as at 14 1/2 stone 5 or 10 grams ain't gonna make much difference
