Hi there,

After having tried out cycling with a clean but aged Peugeot 10spd I have finally bitten the bullet and bought myself a new bike! I have a fine collection of hills around me and some excellent long flat tarmac roads so I wanted something that was fairly quick but also wasn't going to leave me walking the climbs. The choice narrowed to a Cannondale Synapse Claris, Giant Defy 4 or 2014 Genesis Equilbrium00, all seemed great bikes for similar price but I went for the Genesis (admittedly the looks won me over but all reviews seem positive so I rest easier). Anyway I'll be reviewing after I've had sufficient time to put some miles on the clock and posting some photos so watch this space!

Absolutely nothing, I have had a few 80's models (Tour 10, Premiere) and I love them, in fact it was the Reynolds 520 tubing on the Genesis that was the decider as I am a steely at heart. Because I am doing longer challenges I just decided I wanted a new bike this time and I feel like I got the best of both worlds with a retro looking bike.:hello:

That was my point, you could have massively upgraded the Peugeot to full 105/Ultegra and nice wheels for less, however I suppose a new bike tempts us all, any plans for the old un.

Well yes I could have upgraded, but I did manage to buy the Genesis at a rather good price (£499 - ex demo new condition) so my resistance was particularly feeble.

As for the old one it sold on eBay, I am always astonished by the prices some people ask for a what was essentially low-mid range bikes.
