My father worked with Sikh migrants from the 50s to his retirement.

They moisturised their beards and hair with mustard oil. If you know mustard oil, you know the stuff is powerful and stinks.

I started going bald when I was 30, now I just do myself grade 2 all over with the clippers every week. Indeed all my ex's since I was 30 liked me with it cut short in preference to growing it.

Some of us like to pretend that we aren't even thinning, let alone balding. Give them a break.


But there is no excuse for dirty hair!

Local hairdresser who does mine told me that she was glad to be working in a salon instead of a barbers. At the barber's, she had to keep sharpening her scissors because they would quickly go blunt on the pensioners hair as they rarely washed it...

They generally add oil to cutting equipment to keep them cutting cleanly. Perhaps it was the grit...
