I tried ringing but couldn't get through...I'm going to ask if the card and chocolates I "posted" have arrived...and when she says they haven't I'll try my best at convincing her royal mail must have stolen them

Is that horrible?

I forgot. But luckily we went out for dinner so I popped over the road and got her some expensive chocolates.

Well I've had a .... day, courtesy of my ex and a very badly organised Rugby tournament, I'll be on my bike tomorrow morning pedalling it out of the system beause it certainly isn't going of it's own accord.

Help your children make an effort all you men out there, she may not be your mother but you need to set an example to the little people. Whilst you're at it make sure you've made an effort for your own mum's as well. Once a year isn't much to ask.

Well..got cards for my mum and MIL plus a nice basket of flowers....

Orchids and Champers for my little two... for 'mum'...they did their own customising of the card, and made their own too. I've been run ragged... cooked lunch, gardening under instruction.... etc....

Me and wee sis tend to get flowers by post for mum every year so that is easy enough and sorted on line/

The problem I have is remembering to send the card, last year totally forgot so sent her a series of digital photos of the card... the first the envelope (all addressed and ready to post) and then shots of the envelope being opened and then the last one the inside of the card. Not sure how well that went down, I thought it was better than nothing at all

I remebered and had the card and knitted hot water bottle cover (her request) in the post by Wednesday. Rang her yesterday and she was just about to open it, so was able to listen to rustling of paper and 'oooh' of delight.

Went to Sainsburys later and was amused to see sheepish looking bloke crossing the car park carrying a bunch of flowers and a card....

My wife prompted me early last week to send a card, at least, to my mum. I managed that and then forgot to do anything for her until late friday.

Managed to get a nice bunch of daffs potted in a pretty pot at the florist on the way home. Only just fitted in my pannier - must've looked odd cycling with daffs sticking out of my bag

Then managed to help the little-un to make a card on Saturday. Got glue and glitter eveywhere and card got so wet with glue it doesn't sit flat - but it went down well.

This is a moot point.

Both my youngsters made cards. I took the youngest out and we bought a host of garden lovelies to be planted including her favourite "Margeuerite" flowering bush. She fell asleep for two hours on Saturday p.m. during the rugby which means I missed much of it as I looked after the kids, made tea, etc. She got breakfast in bed on Sunday. And I potted up all the plants with the kids and planted some hardy perennials in some gaps we have. Then we had the mother-in-law round for lunch on her request (which actually was quite nice for a change). I spent ten minutes at the cemetery with my Mum. But it still wasn't enough, apparently. I should have made the lunch as well (Roast Turkey, trimmings) or instead of potting up her pressies.

Was it wrong to point out that she wasn't my mother?

Well, I made sure Mr Plax was sorted out and packed him off to his mum.
Then I went to my mums and had a lovely beef dinner and apple crumble for pudding. I did do the dishes though, honest!

As my mother lives in New Zealand and I have no idea what day Mothers Day is over there (other than not the same day as in the UK), I can fairly safely say that I forget it every year.
