I was in town early this morning so I decided to catch the Aldi sale. I was third in the queue - which consisted of about 6 people when the doors opened. Only two of us headed for the cycling gear. I walked round and saw no sign of the Garmins. Not that I wanted one but I was curious.

I picked up a couple of items and went to the checkout. There, without prompting, the chap told me that they had has 7 Garmins in stock and 7 people had queued up and bought them as soon as the doors opened. I was there of course so I knew this was a pack of lies. In fact I could see the checkouts for much of the 7 minutes that I was in the shop.

As I mentioned, I had no intention of buying one but my suspicion is that they were never actually on sale in my branch. Perhaps the staff had first dibs?

I guess if that bothered, you could write to H/O and complain. They should know how much stock was actually allocated to each store

Anything worth anything in Aldi is always in a glass display case and the stock locked in a side room. The location of the display cabinet varies in each store and in the Meanwood Leeds store is at the front near the tills while all the cycle clothing etc is to the back of the store.

Anything of any worth is snapped up by the staff and on ebay before the days end in a lot of stores - but strangely in other stores it does not happen. I am sure in a few days time there will be people still able to buy the Garmin 500s in a couple of stores somewhere, I wonder if they will be returns?

it would at least let them know they have been 'caught' putting stuff by..
I know a local Lidl manager got fingers rapped for same thing...

Posting on UK HotDeals in the last 3 hours by someone who just got one from the Mapperley Nottingham store, none on display but the store had a fresh delivery of them on Thursday evening .

Do those making blanket defamations of the staff have any proof of their comments or is it just randomly libellous of thousands of people in the hope nobody from Aldi ever gets to see it and takes issue?

Individuals with fingers in tills do not make the whole workforce dodgy

Given that it has been reported that one Aldi sold nine in 3 minutes it seems pretty obvious that more than one till must have been in use there, Aldi and Lidl open and shut tills in a blink of an eyelid and I can quite believe that 7 were sold as referred to above whilst browsing the rest of the goods.

It's no different to the regular emails that I get from various online cycling stores. The latest one being "Flash Sale. 1 Hour Only. 60% Off". I click the link and there's nothing on sale with 60% off. Some, so called, decent discounts though, which happen to have been the same discount as I saw on there days before. Same discount as everywhere else too!

It's all about getting you in the store!

I got one in Aldi Southend at 8:40 ish and they still had at least 3 left at the till I used - they had them in a box on the floor by the till so I could see the box when they got mine out...

One of the local corner shops near me regularly attempts to charge more than the price advertised on the display. I always used to challenge them and get it for the advertised price, not the 'accidental' dearer price.
Strange how the price 'accidents' were never lower!
I don't shop there any more.
