Odd massive deflation event. Faulty tyre or tube?

I have a 2 pairs of Schwalbe Blizzards on my two road bikes. One of the rear tyres had a massive blowout yesterday about 1km from a cold start. The inner tube seemed to have split approx 2cm along the seam on the underside (ie the bit against the rim tape). The tyre had lifted off the rim on one side for about 10cm. It cannot have been a trapped tube as it has been on the bike about 300km (half of that on the turbo)

Have bought a turbo tyre for future use, but curious about any ideas of cause, and partic the tyre lifting off the rim.

How queer.

Is the tyre intact around the bead?

hope so! I didn't look. I replaced the tube and then did a one hour ride and it stayed put. I was concerned that the turboing might have weakened the tyre, hence investing in a turbo tyre

With you saying on the underside, I'd rule out the turbo and have thought the rim tape but you had ridden it for a good distance before it went bang, perhaps it was something that wasn't quite visible at first but over time had worn the tube down and pierced it  Having heard stories about turbo damage to road tyres and rubber up the walls however, I don't think its a bad investment.

Not sure why yours blew up, but there seems to be a correlation between turbo and road usage.

I had a blowout when I unwittingly installedd a turbo tube on the road bike and went for a 70 mile road ride.

It made a gunshot sound as I was putting the bike into the garage.
