Standard fair. I doubt anybody brought up in Australia hasn't had this, although pickled beetroot would be much more common.

TBH I much prefer unadulterated beetroot. I grow my own and just boil it. Gorgeous. Why anyone would pickle it is a mystery - it just tastes of the vinegar then and not of beetroot. Anyway - it's only a matter of taste so please eat your beetroot anyway you please.I can take it that you've never eaten it. It's gorgeous.
