Simon Cowell used to polish Jack Nicholsons axe.
I misread that as 'arse' which, if anything, is more believable.

Walking was invented by the ancient Assyrians. Prior to that time people would hop everywhere, or sometimes spend their while lives laying down.

Despite the name, Scotch tape wasn't invented by the Scottish. It was invented by a college dropout named Richard Drew from Minnesota

When duct tape was first introduced into the American market in the late 1940s it was a problem for retailers because the tape was so sticky that the rolls would stick together and be very difficult to separate. In the early 1970s the Manco Company began selling duct tape in shrink wrapped plastic and helped to widen the ability of retailers to sell the product.

Scientists and engineers combined to transfer space technology to domestic appliances.

One outcome was the non-stick pan. Due to it's nature and proposed use, engineers couldn't get the teflon to stick to the pan, so scientists trained microbes to grab the inner layer of the teflon, and use tiny suckers on their feet to stick to the pan.

Whenever you fry an egg, the microbes effectively tap dance to stop their suckered feet from burning.
