Having gone out for a longer training ride (just over 70 miles) for a 100 mile event in May and nearly ‘bonked’, I’ve become extremely interested in nutrition since yesterday. It appears you’re the same (except you’re riding faster than me!
), while the key issue with you seems to be motivation. I’ve been cycling for years, but only really got serious about eight months ago, when the weight/flab initially just fell away. I could still do with losing a stone, maybe more, but the difference between us, I feel, is that I’m not going to beat myself up if it’s not gone by June. (Though it’s a target.) I’d suggest going out and enjoying the excise for what it is, while perhaps cutting out the protein shake, and trying not to get miffed that it’s not going quite the way you want. Good luck and happy riding.
