Don't cycle while inebriated. That will help!

Have the gout now, so can't chalk anything up to spirits . But at University, I seem to recall a Raleigh 3 speed being a rather stable platform of travel to revelries. also in complete agreement with AndyRM, you care a lot less when you do fall.

I've fallen off a few times recently after fitting clipless pedals, some times around people, sometimes alone. Getting back on, even just for a short spin helps your legs and balance remember what they are supposed to do. I felt decidedly wobbly the first time I tried out my new lighter bike and it took a few rides to feel safe, but I LOVE it now.

I've only just put my saddle up to a 'proper' position, it does help your confidence to know you can put your feet down

Ps. Even though you CAN touch your feet down, don't use your shoes as brakes and wear them out or you'll have your mum to answer to ;)

I fell in front of oncoming traffic as a result of not being able to disengage my foot from a clipless pedal - a matter of a second or two could have cost me my life. Personally the benefits of clipless pedals are insignificant compared to the benefit that platform pedals bring - safety. Besides, the DRM V12 pedals are as good as anything you clip into...
