Difference between presenting material you are knowledgeable and confident in, against small talk with strangers in subjects or situations you aren’t comfortable in.

There's also evidence that introverts brains actually process information differently, using more parts of the brain, so it takes us longer to respond and we become overwhelmed more easily in a group setting; being prepared prevents this.

However, it can be confusing for people who don't expect someone quiet to be able to speak in public, especially when many don't realise there's a difference between introversion and shyness.

Even with shyness it depends on the situation. A teenager might be shy with someone they fancy , but not shy with someone they don’t.

Its more than that though. You need to have the audience in your hand, if not you have lost them before you start.

Suggest you go back to Andy’s post. The ability to have an audience in your hand is different to be able to speak publicity but hesitant in private.

Being able to have people in your hand is not analogous with being able to stand up in front of them. You may or may not have the ability. It may or may not work with the audience you are given. You may bomb. You may or may not realise.

Not sure what you are saying there

The thread isn't about what you are doing or would like to do, it is about what you would never do! :okay:

Heights would definitely be a no-no for me. Anything involving meeting or talking to lots of people would be too.

Worst job? SOCO or anyone having to investigate Paedo/Snuff porn. Must be horrendous.
I too would not want to deal with anything physically or emotionally distressing like that. It is a good thing that there are some people who will do it, but I don't know how they can cope with it. I bet a lot eventually pay the price with poor mental health outcomes!

[As for what I would want... Let me work in a quiet room (windows optional), no people to interact with, no manager watching my every move, and no deadlines to meet. Just give me the time, money, and space to do something creative without any stress - my idea of heaven. I would surface eventually with the fruits of my labours!]

We were discussing the nature of introverts which had bugger all to do with whether you can get an audience in your hand at any particular time.

I cannot think what I don't want to be, but only what I do want to be. I have my dream job (software industry) but I needed a break so I'm taking some time out before getting back in.

There are too many to list what I don't want to be.

Edit: but at a push, I suppose uhm chicken shop worker. But tbh I would find some kind of fun even in that. I tend to find fun in most things in front of me.

Re OP: I would love a job involving heights. My Stepson erects lift hoists on the outside of tall buildings in London - he loves it. My neighbour maintains offshore wind turbines which sounds billiant to me.

You would like a good friend of mines job then. He fixes radio and telecommunication transmitters for a living.
