well 7 punctures so far after only one in the whole of 2011,begining of last week i was out over the fields on the mtb with my dog and came across a small tree that had been brought down by the high winds the day before, all full of confidence i approached the tree, lifted the front wheel up and jumped the tree,a small branch caught the rear mech and bent it up 180 into the rear wheel, one mangled mech, pushed the bike about 4 miles home, put the rear hangar in the vice and straightened it then fitted replacement mech.Today i was out with the wife and dog having a lovely muddy ride, was riding up a very long steep field in the lowest gear and the rear mech decided to throw itself into the rear wheel again but this time there was nothing around for it to catch on or knock !! All i can put it down to is a weak hanger.I've had the bike over a year with no problems at all...........until 2012 :cursing: Now i need a new hangar, mech, chain and cable, now taking this opportunity to strip, clean and rebuild the bike so its onto ebay for a cheapie replacement.

these things are sent to try us.....

Cheers everyone,it can be frustrating, very frustrating, and normally i'd be steaming from the ears and cursing all things two wheeled by now but for some reason its really not bothering me that much, the only downside is the mtb is out of action and i ride that daily for 8 ish miles across mud and fields and the dog runs along beside me both having loads of fun.I'm going to take this opportunity to strip and clean the bike,re new all cables etc etc,and as you say Rocky i'll have fun doing it

I'm having the same sort of luck. So far I've had 2 punctures, found a rip in the tyre sidewall and now the headset and bottom bracket need replacing.
