I can't help thinking that the video is subtly speeded up in places for effect, unless it's a characteristic of the lens. He certainly likes charging into unpredictable situations, sublimely expecting other road users to be responsible for his destiny. One way streets, red lights, wrong way round traffic islands, high speed pavement cycling etc etc. I think he looked over his shoulder once before making a manoevre. The following rider must have been carrying out equally lairy actions just to keep him in sight. He didn't give other cyclists much room, either.

What they say about pilots holds equally true here. There are old cyclists, there are bold cyclists, but there are no old bold cyclists. The tragedy will be the collateral damage he is likely to cause to others when he finally does crash and burn, both the ones directly affected and those who just don't like cyclists, and would use his videos to make the case that "they're all like that".

No doubt videos like this are done to entertain a small group of like minded riders, and maybe to give the rider their 15 minutes of fame despite being self incriminating. Making a case against this chap, once identified, would probably be easy for a suitably motivated police force.

Some people are thrill seekers, most are not, but there are ways of getting that adrenaline rush without frightening the bejesus out of vulnerable road users and pedestrians, and annoying many others. Perhaps an essential step on the path of this chap's life's journey to enlightenment, or maybe not.

How on earth does it make us (presumably cyclists) all look bad?

Nobody suggests that idiots filming illegal stuff in cars makes all motorists look bad.

It panders to the “all cyclists…” lobby, who seem quite numerous if social media and the press is to be believed*.

*I’m fully aware that there’s a similarly vociferous “all motorists…” lobby.

Which is just an excuse to dislike all cyclists on their part.
Darien probably drives his BMW in a similar fashion to the way he cycles.
The problem is Darien, not cyclists.
Fortunately, while he is doing this on his bike rather than his BMW, he is only likely to harm himself.

We know that, but that won't stop all cyclists being tarred with the same brush. It doesn't really matter whether it is "just an excuse to dislike all cyclists", it is what happens.

Fortunately, while he is doing this on his bike rather than his BMW, he is only likely to harm himself.

He was dodging pedestrians with very little room to spare, not just motor vehicles. And what about possible trauma to whoever he collides with if he is killed or badly injured?

And unfortunately at some point putting a further unnecessary strain on the NHS.

Ah, the famous Darien Gap - between his ears.
The user name "willieonwheels" is also rather descriptive.
