Norwich 100

I will be entering the Norwich 100 - my start time is 7:50am - last year total time 10:06 - time on the bike 8:08 - over long distances this year i am reducing total time conciderably with a moderate improvement on bike time - so my target this year is 8:40 total time - time on bike 7:40.
Could someone tell me at what distance the compulsory stop is and how long it is - so that i can organize my rest breaks.
And as usual i will have MAD PENSIONER on the back of my top - by the way this i think i will be saving my drinking until the event has finished - cheers

Hi MAD PENSIONER,:hello: if it's like last year, that stop at Sheringham High School was about 45 miles in.

I can't see how it's compulsory, it was a waste of time queuing to get that card verified as no-one looked at it at the end:huh:

It was handy tho' to fill up water bottles and get some food if you want, but this year I intend to actually stop at a couple of pubs en-route, and not look on jealously at the people who did stop^_^

Indeed, the first year I did the Norwich 100 I also joined the queue to get the card stamped at the halfway point but now I certainly don't bother as nobody checks it anyway - what's the point? The stop is for 20 minutes (it used to be 30 minutes) but again, nobody actually checks this - it is probably for health and safety reasons and insurance - I just rest for as long as necessary and then head off on my way (which is usually about 20 minutes anyway). The course hasn't changed much in the last 5 years so I'm guesing this year it's more of the same.

They've changed the wording on the card this year to read something like 'we recommend a 20 minute stop at halfway point'. I always thought it was impossible to check it. No-one ever looked at mine.
I'm starting at 7, and hoping to beat my rolling time of 5:50 last year.
I'm on a white Colnago, and probably wearing a FNRttC jersey. Look for the big red star on the back, and say hi.
Current forecast says 21°, which is a lot more acceptable than yesterday.

Best of luck to all

5:50 has been my approx time for the last 4 years - I doubt I'll be going any quicker this year either as my beer belly keeps growing!

Its the first time Iv done any kind of ride like this, and Ill defiantly be doing it again next year! Really good laugh, and everyone was in really good spirits, lots of smiles and chuckles all the way round, wonderful weather too. A perfect day.

Only did the 50 (weak and feeble me), managed it in 3.50, Probably could have done it in 3.30 had we not stopped at every opportunity - But im not complaining.

Also, quite surprises at the free 1/2 pint at the end

yes, I heard that the late finishers didn't get free beer, as the vouchers ran out, so it looks like a set number had been offered by Adnams as part of the sponsorship deal - nice touch though!
