I was out on the middle distance route on sunday and there are some pretty tragic potholes - we had two punctures just before Netherwitton and there's some loose stuff on the road. I would be careful over any minor roads....errr...that would be lots, wouldn't it...

Yes, the winter has taken its toll, unfortunately... some seem in excellent nick, some bits have been repaired, others have big holes, especially near the edges. I also noticed lots of loose gravelly stuff at certain junctions/corners... just need to be bit careful, I guess. Most of my ride was, i have to say, on fab roads

On the topic of the roads, I was out on the middle distance route and there managed to nip a tube on the road between the first feed station and forestburn gate, watch out! Also there was a road closed sign out near Netherwitton, Nelson was that still in place?

On the topic of recgnition, i'll be on a blue black and grey Giant Defy 3, with blue jersey. I'm number 4141!

3156 for me, not sure what i'll be wearing. But will definately be on a white scott and i'll be wearing a white helmet.;)

My milage was progressing nicely, but I have been suffering from a bad cold for the last week so am not out much at the moment.

Well, managed 82 miles today, round Morpeth, Wallington and Ponteland. No hills mind, just a fantastic headwind all the way along the A696.

Got back and thought, "there's no way I can do the 104, what with all them hills, I'll just do the 64."

But realised that was just the legs talking and within 20 minutes was like - "no way am I doing the one I did last year, I've got all day to get round and I'm bl***y well going to." Ha Ha

I'm 4028 btw. Don't know what I'll be wearing yet (what a girl), but I'll be on a yellow and black Defy, and if it's past halfway I'll be looking like s**t.

If you did 82 you will manage 104, no problems:laugh:

Im still struggling with a chest infection, so milage has taken a big hit. Done a couple of 25's. If im better this week im hoping to get a couple of 60's in at least.
Still determind to do the 104!

Well, in my preparation for this I've managed to get in 1x88 mile ride, 1x101 mile ride, and 5x around the 50 mile mark, as well as two rides yesterday totalling over 65 miles , so I think I'm just about ready for the 104

Been over Billsmorr a few times and up the Ryals 3 or 4 times... one of these days, I must do a sportive where I don't know the roads, to see what that's like!:biggrin:

Fnaar, since you're clearly the local expert, what's Billsmoor like? I was thinking of driving up to rothbury this weekend to try out some of that top section.
