The only reason for dq I can think of would be missing a timing station.
Does having tri bars really make a difference, after all its not a race!

Well I was out on a club ride with Gosforth (got blown out of the back pretty quick), and he was telling a lad to take them off or he wouldn't be allowed in. There was others that missed timing stations and weren't dq'ed!

I saw someone with the time 02:19:21, they were disqualified, some how I doubt they averaged 27mph!

There was someone from your club DQ'ed on the 104. Maybe out of interest you could find out why.

After all as I said before this is not a race. So why the DQs

Disqualified also apparently means 'did not finish due to complete mechanical failure' , which seems a little harsh.

Wow, what a ride on saturday
I was on the 63 mile ride untill i was following a group after the first feeding station and carried onto the 104mile (by accident ) after about 35miles i had realised what i had done and thought about turning around but knew my time wouldnt be true for a 63 mile ride so i carried on the 104 miles, WHAT A SLOG IT WAS.
Not sure if anybody else was as stupid as i was but i am glad i completed the 104miles.
dissapointed there was nothing at the third feed station, only water, just when my legs were starting to hit the wall and when i needed a boost, i struggled to 90 odd miles and then the last station was over flowing with bars, the last 10 were a breeze.
8 Hours 45 with stops, not bad since my longest ride was 50 miles previous to this

well done to all

Well done Mr Browndog! I saw a few people cycling 'the wrong way', on way to Rothbury after F'burn Gt...thought they must have been wrong-turners...others later on must've been going back to rescue/meet friends I guess... anyhoo, that's some addition, so congrats on that!

A really top ride though...really enjoyed it!

But I have a quandary... my official time was about 7hr 50, but my 'ride time' (cycle computer) was 7hr 10 (i.e. 10mins stop at each station)... what do I tell people I did?

i keep telling people my time but reiterating that that included stops on the way around.

what was the part of the ride called at around 70 miles, you turn right down a smallish lane and over the moors, then you can see it heads to the left with quite a astonishing climb, i remember a guy turning to me and saying what a marverlous view of the countryside and all i could see was this climb ahead and thought :ohmy::ohmy:

some lovely parts of the countryside and great views

Didnt ride this year, but rode the 104 last year and group I was with (first group away) didnt stop at 1st timing station.

Not DQ'd, just explained what occurred and it was sorted and I got my correct time. Would have been mightily p'd off if I had a been DQ'd for that.

I dont think I would allow tribars, not too handy for riding in groups, especially with some of the inexperienced bike handling and road sense on display at sportives like Cyclone where beginners, families are actively encouraged to take part.
