It may be the type of roads/lanes that i ride, but I've not noticed an increase in speeds - quite the opposite in fact. With the sheer number of people taking to these lanes on foot or on bike in the past few weeks, most drivers now realise that there may be something unexpected round the corner so are slowing down just in case. Or, having been out on foot or bike, they now understand how vulnerable they are so slow down when back in their cars for others' safety.

I am seeing the two extremes folk like you describe who slow down almost to a stop when they see a ped on the footway that you'll have to give room and the speeding numpties
