I didn't see anything tonight, but heard plenty of random noises. At one point, I stopped to chat to swmbo (she rang to check I was OK), and the rustling in the bushes was incredible...had a group of axe wielding maniacs come at me, I wouldn't have been surprised!

I'm shocked by how cheap the Cree lights are on eBay...and so small. I'm considering another dual light to match and go on the other side of my stem, to balance the bike. Perhaps one flashing and one constant. Though if I do, I reckon I'll carry three batteries. I'm now officially paranoid!

In fact, just ordered another of the Cree lights, and a front triangle bag. Will mount the second light on the spare bike, and put the two batteries in the bag, alongside some spare aaa for the rear light.

Good on you. Mrs the_craig would have kittens if I buy anymore stuff off eBay. Although payday is Wednesday...

I was the same, constantly dimming the lights when in a build up area to make sure I had enough power.

Although, I was having a look on http://www.candb-seen.co.uk and the idea of having two lights, run off a 6 cell battery with two back ups seemed appealing.

I have a Moon Meteor as my main light. My commute is just under an hour, and I have tested the Moon on my desk and confirmed it will last just over an hour on full power. I usually have it on the second power setting (of three) to give myself a bit of wiggle room, and charge it at both ends of the trip. On this setting it is quite bright enough for unlit roads as long as you keep the speed sensible. Last week I had it flashing on the way into work (in daylight) and forgot to recharge while at work, so I had no idea how long it would last on the way home (in the dark). I put it on the lowest setting and although I would have preferred more light it was adequate. I always travel with a reserve light and also a head torch in the saddlebag, for emergencies. It's a long walk home ...

Slightly off topic but I went out early this morning whilst it was still dark and was riding reasonably fast down towards the woods when a squirrel flew out in front of me from nowhere. I swerved to avoid it and almost broke my neck. Teach me to not be alert to what's out there
