I'm out. When a rider as strong as Adam limps home and says "that was hard", well....
He told me I would struggle and suffer to the point of despair and wanting to bail. There are NO bail out points.

Although I should point out I was limping when I got home due to having just fitted a new seat post, and the set back of the saddle isn't quite right. After about 45 miles, my left knee suddenly started aching, and it got steadily worse. And to get home in Luton, we have a big hill to climb.

Anyway, the flat bits on this ride are absolutely fine and really enjoyable. :bicycle:

Did a 30km loop this morning to get the legs working. Doing some hills tomorrow morning, and then a couple more times in the week. Same again next week, should hopefully see me ready.

I guess I should get a ferry ticket bought. Did 20km this morning over Portsdown Hill and back through Southwick / Boarhunt...was tough but manageable, so it'll only get easier over the next few days!

Is anyone coming from the Fareham end? I shall be riding down the Eclipse bus lane from Fareham (if its open) and then jumping on the Gosport Ferry over to Pompey.
