If in doubt, bring along an extra layer or two..

Its finding room to carry layers is the issue....I guess I can squeeze in some arm warmers and maybe an under armour cold gear top. Just means less room for food for the dawn picnic!!

I am getting the 21.30 from Waterloo, getting into Portsmouth at 23.08. Whereabouts are we going to meet?

Should I pre buy a ferry ticket, any price advantage, or just pitch up and get one?

I think at that time you will be best to head straight for the Wightlink ticket office, no doubt we'll all meet up just outside the office.

I'll be on the train leaving Victoria station at 20:02, arriving Portsmouth Harbour 22:05. Will then head on to Pizza Express at Gunwharf's Quays, http://www.gunwharf-quays.com/shops/pizza-express As all restaurants at Gunwharf Quays, it closes at 23:00, which might be a bit tight timewise but 45 min should be alright for a quick pizza. Afterwards, one could head on to http://theoldcustomshouse.com/

I might book a table at Pizza Express, depending on how many we well be.

Or do you have a better idea, Stu?
I could be tempted to join you, have you checked what time last orders for food is?

Yes I'm just gonna buy a ticket when I get there...you still have to go in the ticket office regardless.

Yes, there won't be any queue, although bear in mind that at the other end when buying a ticket in Ryde to come back, there are likely to be long queues taking 10-15 minutes, so don't leave arriving there until the last minute before the boat leaves if you haven't bought a return originally.

Indeed. I only just made the sailing the other week. There sadly isn't the option of a 'go out on the ferry, back on the cat' return, the cat has separate (more expensive) tickets. I for one won't feel like doing another four miles back to Fishbourne just to save a couple of quid....

I'm confused. If you go around in a circle, starting at Fishbourne, doesn't it stand to reason that we'll get back round to Fishbourne before Ryde?

Edit... Just re-read the early posts, I see we are continuing beyond Fishbourne back to Ryde for breakfast. Is it advantageous to purchase a Cat ticket in advance? Will that get me past any queues?

Queue was quite long the other week, but I made in time. The cat's going to work best for those who've got a train home to catch, and probably for you too (if you're getting the Gosport Ferry). And by 9-9.30 (probably) I think I for one will be wanting food ASAP....
