Yep... Problem is I want to be in the new house before Christmas and we have to also give notice on this place as well... It's that waiting game. If we set the surveys started on the house purchase we lose a lot of money if we have to pull out of the purchase. It's headache time! Right now just proving who we are is proving hard enough! The solicitor wants 1 photo id (easy) and 2 address identifications (driving licence not included on list for some reason)! I have 1 (council tax bill) but coming up with a utility bill (don't pay any) or a bank statements (all electronic now) is giving me a headache! Even proving the deposit is a nightmare! Again the only thing we have that isn't electronic is my premium bonds which I kept as paper for some reason! Hid are electronic and the print out is useless! I'm going to have to ring them today! Ahhhhh

I had the same problem recently in commissioning solicitors to do the conveyancing on my parents' house. Even though I've owned my own house for about 30 years, coming up with acceptable proof of id etc in this electronic age was a bit of a challenge.

The old 'British' mantra of "I am who I say I am" does not seem to work any more. My brother had a harder time as he does not even have a passport!

Worse still when two accepted forms of ID have been issued in your name, to someone else.

This is something that I may well have a problem with at some point. I have no photo identification at all as I don't have a passport and still have the old paper driving licence. All bills are direct debit/paperless so I really struggle to find a decent form of ID. If they don't do away with the buss pass, I might get that when I'm 60. Lol

One of the things we made sure we had before we went off to cycle around the world was our driving licences changed to the photo id version because of they were needed to be handed over as id, add they were on many occasions, it was significant less of a problem if they were missing. We only ever produced our passports when absolutely necessary and even they it was photocopies of those first! It was the only reason for getting a photo id driving licence!

If you have a passport the DVLA can update your driving licence by checking it against the passport number when you apply for a photo driving licence.

The passport office require a driving licence for your application for a passport as one of the ID examples .

Chicken and egg situation .

Not so funny when I needed to update my ID in an emergency and needed both! The situation became very frustrating bcoz I couldn't supply any of the other examples either.

Our Romanian neighbours have been low level partying since 11pm, its now 08.45, theyve still drinking heavily, talking talking talking, smoking en mass in the garden, music on but not loud, windows open so there's no peace last night.
The exciting news....apparently one or two of them sometimes go off in their cars when their neighbour thinks theyve been drinking.....she's watching their cars, phone in hand as we sit here :okay:

There is a lad who lives across the road from us who is a complete anti-social pain. It started whrn he was 4, pulling plants out of people's gardens, as he grew he graduated through throwing stones at old ladies in the street, breaking wing mirrors, graffiti, smoking weed in public, hanging round with his mates intimidating people. He went on to become a prolific bicycle thief and receive regular visits from the Police. Now in his early 20s he still dresses like he's 14 and a bit gangsta (whilst the rest of his cohort hae grown up, drive nice cars and behave decently). He never seems to have a job and grnerally seems happy to sponge.

Anyway, this afternoon we watched his mother pack all his stuff into her car and drive him away. She returned without him and his bedroom looks empty.

Fingers crossed the little useless burden on society has finally cleared off. If so, there will be a party in South Leicester this weekend.
