Hiya, I recently travelled by train from Newcastle to Paisly , the train went to Edinburgh first , I really liked the journey , so I got to thinking it would be a nice ride heading through Berwick then heading up to Aberdeen after Edinburgh . Lots of towns and B roads hugging the coast all the way looking at road maps .Well be camping if weather ok but will stay in b&b Edinburgh area and Aberdeen , anyone any local info about these areas ? Cheers ,

The Northumbrian coast is pretty spectacular, especially if you're lucky with the weather.

Beadnell has two decent pubs that do good food, but I wouldn't camp there as the touring campsite is right next to the main coast road and pretty open to the elements.

Nice touring journal , you've answered my question also , which bike and tyres , Ms 'boz wanted to go on her cube road y , looks like a trip to the second hand bike shops for a suitable touring style machine , I'll be on my Surley CC ,but may put the oem tyres back on , I've just bought a second hand hikers backpack.today £10 , fit loads of stuff , comfort plus padded straps and back panels etc . Panniers front and rear next , I've no doubt I'll be the pack horse on this one ! I will order and study the maps from the website @PaleRider posted . Camping is def on the a gender , but obv weather may put an angle on that one , due to work commitments w'ell be heading off between June and September Cheers

Aha , but I've got insider info ..... Summer in Scotland is on. Tuesday and Wednesday this year !!

There is an interesting option, unfortunately you'd miss out Edinburgh, but the good side is you go from the best part of East Lothian to the best bits of Fife, without some of the less picturesque bits in-between.

I prefer heading inland a wee bit after Berwick Upon Tweed and going through Chirnside, and over the Lammermuirs rather than sticking to the coast.
