Hi again AB. The Bianchi looks a good buy. The chainset is the lowest Shimano offering but works well. It would be a good bike to start off with. I couldn't get the web page up, but have seen it on Evan cycles here. http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=87038
AdamB, is your commute particularly hilly? I just wonder if a triple chainring might be better than a compact (double). I'm no expert on that subject, so I will leave that for someone else to advise.
Great going to work as mostly downhill. It just means it's mainly uphill on way home but I hardly change gear at the moment on mtb. Never use the bottom ring.
Hello from another Newbie. I'm Dave and I hail from the South Wales Valleys. I am currently riding an old Apollo Kaos (Halfords Brand). It is heavy and rather unsophisticated (just like me) but it does the job. Next longish trip planned is a ride from Aberdare to Pontardawe for the festival http://www.pontardawefestival.com/a/index.php. It works out at around a 55 mile trip so wish me luck :-)
