out for a 6m run - bit of directional control problems

checked back at home - loose front hub cones..
stripped - lubed - refitted loosely - ordered and waiting for cone spanners
the rear hub felt a bit 'gritty' [ too tight.?]
stripped - cone surfaces OK - lubed - refitted loosely

anything else i need to look for.?

PS
cleaned black gunk off the rim braking surfaces

clean up the pads and check for grit/metal flakes in the grooves or embedded in the rubber, and pick them out. It's worth doing this regularly, especially after wet rides or if you hear graunching sounds, or if there is black stuff on the breaking surface - that's your rims being ground away, and you can wear out the rims really quickly if you leave it.
