yeah thanks, i realise that but where do i find a local good quality 2nd hander? ebay is ok but never seem to be right size if a looker appears on there, classifieds here never seem to show one either- there was a perfect dolan recently selling for 560 but i was too late and he had broken it down and sold the bits seperately. occured to me there must be a market for a 2nd hand bike shop as generally all my lbs shops only sell new. just happens i recently took a substantial redundancy payout from work and looking to invest it. any thoughts anyone or should i post a new thread for that??

eBay is your best bet - but you have to be prepared to wait for the right bike to come up.

It's hard to make money out of a LBS - the upfront costs of equipment and premises can be substantial and you would need an experienced bike mechanic for repairs etc. It can then take a long time to grow a worthwhile customer base.

Check out if there are any businesses in you area that are for sale -it's frightening how many actually are!

Maybe something like this?
Spa (Harrogate) are quite helpful in a sort of curmudgeonly yorkshire way but you should be ok with that?

done all that and more. i think if i knew my stuff might have set one up from scratch as theres a definate gap in the market there. im bidding on a bianchi 59 inch at mo. the guy says hes 6 2 as well so should be a good fit. got a cheeky bid on but dont reckon i`ll get it as it was over a grand new and my bid not reached reserve. also a hardly used trek 2.3 just come on in a 58, 600 start or 749 buy now, anyone any thoughts on that- its a 2009 model and as i understand it all the manufacturers have downgraded their componants for 2010 to keep prices down so thats another good reason not to buy new.
