Thanks BB that's kind of you. I've been a bit brave I read. I've not seen let alone tried one. I'll be annoyed with myself if it doesn't suit me. Trouble is the circs, many shops closed, others closing down, and otherwise shops have limited stock, so I've bought on sale price, specs, colour, a very friendly sounding voice on the phone, and a limited budget for a decent bike. All flexible body parts are crossed!

I’ve done the same

Welcome Monkers and good luck with the bike!

I've bought several bikes without ever trying them... whisper it, but bikes are bikes. If the size is good, you're in for fun.
Thanks CT. While I was agonising I missed a couple of others on my short list. I felt I had to take the plunge. The deal's a good'un though, 180 off just for being last year's colours.

Good thinking... I've generally bought "last years model" when buying new, a third off just for it having a different colour stripe! That was literally the only difference when I bought my Giant, the (nearly all black) 2017 TCR had a yellow stripe, the 2018 had a green stripe. 350 pounds difference. Same bike. Crazy.

And I say that, but then this winter when I was looking for my ideal tourer I refused to have the 2019 Genesis Tour de Fer (dark red) at a third saving, when the 2020 model was bright copper orange.
I am obsessed with orange you see. And for just once in my life I was prepared to pay daft money for the bike colour of my dreams. 🤷‍♂️

Some things have to be done! :okay: I just googled, looks great, I can see why you wanted it.

I'd have been happy enough to have either colours. I'd set a budget of 600. In the new colours it is 699 + pedals, instead I got it for 520 + pedals.

I'd short-listed some others including a Boardman, and a Scott. The Boardman is sold by Halfords and not readily available where I live. I'd sooner give the money to an independent speacialist tbh. The Scott was out of stock everywhere and I didn't fancy waiting, so I ended up with a short list of one. It's a Cube Axial Ws by the way from Transition at Bedford.

May we both have excellent luck! What did you buy and where from?

Fingers crossed!
I originally ordered a Specialized Allez Sport but their stock levels were wrong so for an extra £50 they upgraded it to an Elite model which should’ve been £200 more. I ordered it directly from Specialized.

Oh that was one on my shortlist too. I'd set my budget to 600, so just a little over. I fancied it in red. If memory served there wasn't stocks in my size though. Their delivery times looked a little long too at the shop site where I was looking. It looks great, I reckon you should be really happy with that.

Hi & :welcome:, I go beach fishing in your area

Hi friend ... (I just can't bring myself to call you 'numbnuts').

I'll look out for you, I'm often down there.

I know your neck of the woods a little too. I lived and worked near Romsey (Abridge) before retirement.
