If you buy a new set I would be interested in purchasing your r500

In between here and there
I used a set of Fulcrum 3's through winter, finished off the back one in a little over 3k of winter miles. That's the downside to lighter wheels. Fulcrums didn't seem easy to get in single wheels.

I read the Cycling Active article about wheels and was impressed by the review of the Fulcrum 3 racing wheel. I've been thinking about upgrading for the past couple of weeks but keep putting it off as I don't want to overstretch myself as we have a family holiday in 3 weeks. It's paid for but spending money is tight. I'm also in two minds as I'm not an out and out racer in a club so doubt if new wheels will make a big difference to my enjoyment of cycling even if they do take a few seconds off my rides. New tyres improved my times by approx 5% at £30 each so they seem like a better upgrade than wheels right now.

You might want to try different tyres first as it is a much cheaper option. If you are still not satisfied get your new wheels and put these tyres on. Obviously the tyres won't change the weight by much but you may be surprised at the difference, say Vittoria Diamante will make, you could even try latex tubes.

Finally took the plunge and went for the Ultegra 6700's. If I had the money I would've gone for the Fulcrum 3's but should still be a decent upgrade to the R500's.

I'm thinking of selling my Tricross and using the proceeds to get myself a new set of wheels and mudguards for winter. Seems a little extravagant to have 3 bikes. I've got a feeling not everyone is going to agree with me on that one ^_^

Actually I do agree, I am trying to get down to 2, but I am not sure if I want to use my new bike for commuting as it does not take full mudguards
