Hi everyone.

I have recently brought a 2016 Carrera TDF after an 11 year break from cycling. I'm now going to get an indoor trainer for bad weather and the dark winter months so I don't loose my new found fitness (well fitter than I was previously).

I thought rather than changing the tyre every time I want to use the trainer I would get a new wheel and put the trainer tyre on the spare wheel and just swap the wheel. As the bike has quick release wheels I thought this would be easier.

However as a beginner I'm confused by the choice of wheels available! The bike has 700c wheels and is 7 speed. What wheel do i need and do i need a freewheel or freehub?

I'd appreciate any help :-)

You need a wheel that can take a 7 speed cassette/ freewheel. What's written on the outside of it at the moment?

Loch side.
It doesn't matter whether you get a freehub or a freewheel. 7-speed is 7-speed. As long as the wheel is the same size in the drop-outs, it is OK to get either.
7-Speed is usually 126mm between drop-outs. Just measure that and get the same.
