Michelin pro 4 endurance for general decent weather riding. Michelin pre 4 race if you want to push on.

Or schwalbe durano plus for poor roads and commuting.

Conti 4 seasons in the winter, Conti 4000s in summer

Of the tyres Ive had:
4 seasons - Grippy and roll well but not too durable/expensive;
GP4000s - Faster still and grippy too but expensive and some say they are p'ture prone (Not IME);
GPs - Relatively cheap but I found their side wall prone to damage;
Gatorskins - good p'ture resistance and durable some say they are skittish in the wet (but again Not IME, I found the very grippy, perhaps folk run them at too high a pressure);
Vitorria Rubinos - cheap but contrary to reports I found them very skittish;
Mitchelin Krylion Carbons - Grippy, light, roll well, durable, good p'ture protection and relatively well priced; cons they aren't any IMO, well maybe their availability, hence my choice of their predecessor Mitchelin Pro 4 Endurance; their advertising blurb promises to offer the same or better than the kylions.

I came on intending to post something about tyres until I saw this thread!

I've only got one bike for most things, and even worse I've only got one set of wheels. (Can you hear the violins?) So a set of tyres needs to do me for training rides, leisure rides and an occasional TT.

I started with cheap stock Specialized tyres, moved to Specialized turbo elites that seemed like a decent upgrade and then moved to Michelin pro 3's. I ran them for well over a year, getting about 1500-1800 miles per tyre and getting very few punctures, until they were getting worn. I then moved to pro 4 races and have had nothing but trouble. I'm doing much less miles this year, mainly due to weather. The roads are grittier than I've ever seen them and in worse condition, but I've gone through at least 4 and possibly 5 tyres in just over 1000 miles.

So as you can see I'm one of those have my cake and eat it people. Happy to run good tyres all the time when it pays off for me, as it did last year, not so happy when it doesn't, like this year!

I went out yesterday morning and found a flat rear tyre, with a hole in it and logged on thinking enough was enough and I would buy some Rubino Pros. I had a triumph of hope over common-sense though and bought a pair of Corsa Evo CXIIs. I've a 25 mile time trial on Sunday and with very few miles under my belt I need all the help I can get.

I suppose what I really need to do is buy some spare wheels, put the good tyres on them and swap them over for TTs.

Are you seriously wearing through tyres in 200-250 miles or am I reading that wrong? Doesn't seem right, to me. FWIW PR3's have a dodgy rep (at least from what I have read) and I thought that PR4's were supposedly a big improvement... Infact was considering a set for the Summer but this has me nervous now.

Edit: that was @Nebulous

That's 4 or 5 tyres, not 4 or 5 sets, so about twice that, but yes 500 miles or so a tyre. Tread not worn out, but cut up so badly that I threw them away. I know about Pro 3 tyres reputation, but they did me proud last year. Such a small sample needs to be treated with caution. I may have had extremely good luck last year and extremely bad this year. If I had been sensible I should have gone for the endurance ones last winter. I'm hoping now that the weather has improved that I'll return to a more normal wear rate.

I've been running Conti GP4000S's for a year - and have only just replaced the rear one. The front's still going 2500 miles later.

They're used for commuting, days out, sportives, etc. with very few problems.
