Well just a quick hello
went and dusted of my teenagers old bike as santa brought him a new one this year.
so last week or so been out every night approx 5/6 miles
ok aint very much distance but bearing in mind not rode a bike since i passed my car test
so my question is should i stick with my lads old bike?
seems to do the job for me to be fair !!

:welcome: Mark: the question is not "should I stick with the old bike" but "how long will it take for me to want a new/different one?" ^_^

Excellent advice from Pat "5mph". Keep riding it until you realise that you could morph into Greg Lemond if you spent a whole lot of money on a ruinously expensive machine. Or something...

Welcome to CC,
as pat has found out getting the seat height right can make a lot of difference to your ride , is the bike big enough for you ?

:welcome: Mark.
Your brain will soon gather all relevant data regarding what bike (if any) you need.
Your imagination will expand your gathered data to determine what bike you would like.
Your wallet will then override all information gathered thus far and tell you which bike (if any) you will get!

hey cyberknight
bike seems fine height wise and comfortable enough yeah decided going carry on with it for 6 months
bit of a heavy think though doubt i will ever ride up a mountain with it so i will get a lightweight bike next

carrera subway? excellent bike, well liked by members on here, my 1st bike when i got back into cyling,a lot lighter than a basic mtb and bombproof...in a word bargain and you can tell swmbo that we all said its a good bike and good value:smile:

sent 1 handed from netbook with baby on lap...hence no capitals and dodgy punctuation!

I certainly second that with knobs on! Not the baby bit though ^_^

The seat height was the key for me - I couldnt handle more then 10 miles until I got my seat height right - believe it or not the seat went up at least 4 inches before suddenly cycling became so much easier
