I've just had a new Ribble delivered
https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/new-bike-arrived.215425/

It's on hydraulic Tiagra, Listed on order. as; Shimano RS505 STI / Hydraulic Disc Brake Set w/RS785 Calipers
Discs being stamped as; TRP 6J

On moderate braking, not heavy, just to lose speed reasonably quickly (& on the flat) there's a noise like a freewheel ratchet - particularly from the front

Is this normal, or is it just 'bedding in'?

Thanks for advice, in advance

All discs can squeak and squeal a bit, particularly - but not exclusively - in the wet.

A ratchet noise doesn't sound right.

It might be bedding in which, incidentally, is done by a series of firm stops from speed to a standstill.

Opinions vary as to the worth of deliberate bedding in, but there's no harm in doing it - safely, of course.

Thanks

That's the closest approximation of the sound, I can think of

Plus, what are these, that were in the bits-box?
Adaptors for different sized discs, or mechanical calipers???

It's a disc brake calliper mount adaptor to allow post mount callipers to be mounted to side mount frames.

Why Ribble has supplied a pair to you is a mystery, given your bike is ready built.

All I can think is the brake kit comes with them, and Ribble, quite reasonably, have sent you everything you've paid for.

The front disc is slightly loose, not enough to (seemingly) affect braking, but it can be moved by holding it, & the wheel - just enough to be feel-able

Torx-drivers & Loc-tite, I believe?
