As you are to be a 'casual' cyclists, are you sure you want a drop handlebar bike?
They are not for everyone, whereas almost anyone can get along with flat bars.
Where and how far will you be riding?
The Boardman will handle cycle paths, but is more at home on the road.
Is your area hilly?
The Boardman has what cyclists call compact double gears, to you and me, that means first is not very low, hills could be a problem unless you are already fit and strong.
Where is all this leading?
To a Pinnacle Lithium from
Evans, that's where.
Flat bars, podgier and wider tyres for comfort, and most Lithiums have three gear rings at the front, giving a crawler gear for hills.
The frame is versatile, plenty of clearance for different tyres, and plenty of bosses for mudguards and a carrier - stuff you might not want now, but could need if your riding progresses.
And it has hydraulic disc brakes, far better than the crappy cable ones on the Boardman.
