New to commuting: Saracen Urban Esc?

Hello community

First time poster here, so be gentle

I intend on starting commuting to work, and just generally having nice leisure commutes. Over the years I've only ever really ridden the Halfords Apollo MTBs - generally too heavy and quality seems to suck - get what you pay for I guess.

Had a look in a few local bike shops and got some catalogues to have a look through. Came across this:

Any good?

Mainly looking at hybrid kind of bikes due to my 16.5st. weight - a road bike doesn't seem suitable?

Looking to spend £200-£280ish.

Any help, comments or advice would be greatly appreciated

It a bit low geared for my liking and its got an older freewheel rather than a cassette and I've never heard of some of the component manufacturers (Neca, Thun, Taya) other than that it doesn't look bad for the money. I'm no expert on weight but I'm sure there have been heavier forumers on roadbikes, gbb155 in his former state springs to mind; so I wouldn't rule one out.
