last week my freehub started sticking on my carrera tdf, called into halfords(on bike plan) to get a price for a new 1,told that that dont list it as a spare part so would have to be a new wheel,(given advice on putting diesel on the hub to loosen it and keep it running till payday and its worked)but price for new wheel from halfords is around £50. will require a new tyre aswell and chain getting close to .75 so was thinking of changing chain and cassette all together but going cost around £85ish pounds.
having never brought a new wheel before how do i go about buying 1 from elsewhere i.e ebay? the guy at halfords told me i would need a 700c q/r 8/9speed freehub not freewheel. is this how wheels are listed or what should i be looking for? bit confused at the moment lots of wheels listed and would like try keep costs down.
thanks in advance for any advice given.
Matt.

Without seeing the state of your existing tyre/chain/cassette, a new purchase may not be neccessary, they can all be transferred to the new wheel.

These are super value and just the rear would be about £50. You can get cheaper wheels, but then you will have difficulties getting parts such as freehubs. Sounds like your chain needs replacement, but if 8 speed you should be able to get a kmc one for very little*.

* don't let the 7 speed reference deter you - chains marketed as 7 and 8 speed are interchangeable

Yes they look nice wheels but bit to much to put on the commuter, but could maybe use the front for spare on 2nd bike.
