26 miles with 1400 feet of climbing in two and a half hours, shoulda been nearer 20 but I decided to follow the signs, which of course point the wrong way and I realised when I went in a loop

Was good and I wasn't too tired after (though the super steep hill close to home was a killer) so going to either run it again (without getting lost) or push further out in the next few days, will look to see if theres a cool turnaround point to aim for in the 30-35 mile range.

Anyway, a bit shabby by the standards of proper cyclists but I'm getting there

It is not the speed of climb that is important, but the ability to complete any ride started! I remember Chris Boardman talking of a training run through the Pennines of 100 miles in about 3.5 hrs!!!!!! Someone will always be faster than you, while others are slower. Just enjoy what you do - that gives the most pleasure!

whoot 37 mile out and back with a bit of a loop at the end 2400 feet of climbing  but looks doable in my next free day, guessing budget it at 4 hours and leave in the early AM to be home for egg and bacon

I'm trying to build up to a long tour so now I'm working on getting the miles in and hoping getting faster will come with it, at some point I'll get a faster bike too

It's a great feeling to watch the trip distance on your cycle computer tick past your previous best, knowing you've still got enough in your legs for that little extra
