Thanks for the offer, i've been busy and things have moved on.

After further torid times, I got an offer for them to have the Bike back, which I jumped at, because I had decided it wasnt fit for purpose. I was in france at the time, trying to cycle it up some of the Alps. On the way home I managed to find another local shop that had another unit, although it was an Ultegra set. I sent my measurements, rode it 25 miles and was at the London event, in the rain sunday, where it was perfect.

Thanks for the offer.

I got a Sempre Pro Ultegra model very recently and it's amazing, especially the groupset. Glad yours is equally as good now. Enjoy!

As I say , it was faultless in London at the weekend, in all the rain. You also notice people look at it, when you pas them by, or maybe thats just me.

Annoying (especially so to me, given what I do for a living) that a dealers' inability to do something basically simple, that should be completely routine, spoilt your enjoyment of Campagnolo.

I mean, all that's needed is a little care and attention *sigh* ...

I have to say I think the Fulcrum Racing 7 wheels are no where as good as the Vision Team 30's. I'm even thinking of changing them for my old RS21's

Well, you do have to compare like with like - R7s are £159.95 RRP, the Visions are £299.00 - a fairer comparison would be Campag Scirocco 35 or if you want something with less windage, Fulcrum R5s at £259.00 in both cases .... Even the RS21 were originally a £225.00 wheel set ...

I have Campag Zonda's on my Sempre Pro Ultegra. Moved them from my old bike as only on there for 2 months. Not yet tried the Fulcrum's on the old bike, but the Zonda's are fabulous on the Bianchi!

They were around £225 at the time, but now around £245 iirc. That's the cheapest price as RRP is more like £369.

The R7's are heavier than the Rs21's, although during the London Ride 100 ans Shakespeare Cotswold sportives I have done this Autumn, they have taken and withstood quite a beating in both the water and potholed cotswold countryside. The Shimanos do have cup and cone bearings, instead of sealed replicable ones. So a replacement is definitely a must, I just need to find the balance between strength, weight and aero dynamics. I shall keep and eye on the Zondas over the autumn.

There is such a bewildering choice out there.

Given what I do for a living, I have a big bias, but I do think the Zondas are a well kept secret on Campag's part - they are responsive, reasonably light and from our PoV as service and warranty providers, we don't see them that often, implying that they are quite robust. The have a fully replaceable bearing assembly which can even be upgraded to the full CULT system if the fancy takes you.

Running them a close second are the Scirocco 35s - OK, the are a cartridge bearing but you can exchange these for standard industrial ceramics when the stock bearings wear out if you wish, and the wheels in any case roll very well - we use them as the standard issue training wheel for many of the teams that we support.

Yes, the R7s are a heavier wheel than the RS21s but as I pointed out, they are also an entry level wheel and at RRP they are only 2/3, in fact a bit less than that, of the price. With wheels you generally have three options, as with most things in bike world - Light, Strong, Cheap - pick two!

I love my Zonda's !!

Stuck them on my Bianchi a few months ago and they seemed to make a huge difference to the stock wheels especially climbing

For the average MAMIL they are all you'll ever need!!

I know its me but I have become a bit anti parallel groups of spokes, for some irrational reason I don't like them and think they may be hard to adjust, if I ever needed to, which I don't really know how to either.

I have discovered a wheel by Novatec, which I am investigating.
