I took the IAM course and test a few years back. Even if you think you're already a good driver, there are lessons to be learned. One tip I picked up, for instance, is to hover my foot over the brake pedal when I don't need the accelerator. Another is to do with observation leading to indication/no indication.
It's an extremely valuable course, I recommend it to everyone.

In which I put "Increased chance of being caught and importantly, punished when driving dangerously. This would include a more visible police presence, but also a justice system that treated seriously, dangerous behaviour when in charge of a motor vehicle."
